Installation

The latest version of OfficeView Pro is always posted at our web site: www.OfficeView.com.

We recommend that you download the current version from URL http://www.officeview.com/OVP.exe on our web site to take advantage of the latest improvements. To display the program version number, select About under the Help menu.

After you download the OfficeView Pro installation program (OVP.exe), copy the file into the directory where you want to install the program. Normally, you would choose to install it in a network directory on a server. Give all OfficeView Pro users full privileges (execute, read, write, delete and create) on the shared directory.

To install the program, select Run from the Start menu on the task bar. Enter the path and installation program name of the downloaded file, for example, \\server1\oviewpro\ovp.exe. Press <Enter> and follow the on-screen instructions. This will install all of the OfficeView Pro files into the subdirectory of your choice and create a program group/shortcut for them. The installation takes only a few seconds.

To enter names into the program, log on as "Admin" using the password "Abc". If the logon screen does not appear when you start the program, select " Log Out" on the "Actions" menu to bring the logon screen into view. To populate the board with user names, click on "Actions" and "Add Name" or type Ctrl+N and type the name. The screen that prompts you to add each user name will also enable you to set the options to be given to each user. Employees can change the options highlighted in green. A right click on the option text will remove the green background. Click on the Add button to display the Employee Information screen. If you like, you can leave this screen for employees to complete themselves. Finally, click on Close to add the name to the database. After you have entered all the names, it is prudent to make a backup copy of the OfficeView Pro shared directory. The names are saved in database file ov3.dbf.

To give workstations access to OfficeView Pro, open the Network Neighborhood icon on the desktop and browse to the OfficeView Pro server directory. Find the workstation installation program (setupWS.exe) and run it with a double mouse click. The program adds an OfficeView Pro folder to the Programs menu on the Desktop Start button and allows you to have OfficeView Pro start up each time Windows starts. Be sure users have write permission to the file called ov3local.ini in the Windows directory.

OfficeView Pro assigns a blank password to employees allowing them to log on without entering a password. Normally, users will then choose a password of their choice.

Admin mode is useful only for administrative purposes and should not be used for every day use because many of the normal functions are disabled. Upon registration, you will be provided with a back door password, in case you forget your Admin password. Unregistered versions will always accept the "abc" Admin password.
