Reading Messages

Select "Read Message(s)" from the Action menu or type <CTRL R>. This opens a dialog box which displays a message as well as the date and time it was sent and the author. If there are any unread messages, the oldest unread message appears. The screen displays the current message number and the total number of messages in your database. Messages that have not been read are colored green. The text is colored black for any subsequent viewing.

You can reply to a message simply by typing your reply. The background will change to blue to indicate that you are in the process of replying. Press the Escape key to undo your reply. To send it press the Reply button.

To view a different message, click on the "Select Message" button located to the right of the "Subject" field. A list of all your messages will appear. Click on one to open it.

The following navigation buttons are available to assist you in moving through your messages:

Button Purpose
The first message in the database appears.
The previous message appears.
The next message appears.
The last message in the database appears.


The following buttons are also available:

Button Purpose
Reply Activates the Send Message screen to reply to the current message or immediately sends any reply text entered.
Forward Forwards a received message to others.
Print Prints the current message.
Delete Deletes the current message and the next message appears.
Copy Copies the text to the Windows clipboard making it available to be pasted into your word processor.
Close Closes the window and returns you to the main program.
Help Calls up help information.

 For information on options relating to the receiving of messages, click on Selecting Options. If the option "New messages bring OfficeView into view" is on, then the message screen will pop up above all other screens and remain there until you close it. If the option is not activated, then the receipt of new messages will be indicated in the icon on the bar menu and in the title bar.
